Welcome to Midway art classes! My name is Lauren Cressman and I am sooo excited to be working with each of you and your children. Here on this blog I will be posting lessons, completed artwork, and any assignments I may give your children to complete throughout the week. Here is my personal portfolio that you are more than welcome to view. I have taught kindergarten for three years along with sundance kids camp. I am graduating from BYU in art education in april. I love teaching and making art. I especially love seeing others find a passion for art. My main goal with this class is to help your children become passionate and comfortable with the art making process. We will be exploring many different art mediums throughout the course. Coronavirus Sketchbook Prompts!

Hey guys! I am so sorry we are not meeting together!! Here are some fun ideas and prompts that you can do while you are at home to keep your creativity flowing!  Sketchbook building tutorial (if you want to make one or make one for another member of the family) Now things to put in your sketchbook!!!  1 )  How many circles can you draw?? Draw 12 circles  Fill each circle with a  different object that is a circle!  -examples -soccer ball, basketball ball,  eyeball, fruit, bug etc.   2)  Drawing with extra long arms Collect sticks, rulers, or other long things tape a pencil or crayon, to the end.  Tape paper to the wall, or put it on the floor,  Draw holding the end of the stick away from the paper as if your arm was really long.  Materials: -paper -yard sticks/ sticks/ or ruler -pencil -tape Also look up Joan Jonas an artist who paints with a giant paintbru...

This class should be a lot of fun and I can not wait to meet the rest of you. This week we started to get to know each other with some drawing games. Next week i am hoping to dive right into watercolor. We will be going over advanced techniques and how to use these as your children paint their own personal interests. I am hoping to get a sketchbook for each student so that I am able to assign some sketchbook prompts once a week. My hope is that each student becomes passionate and confident about art. This class should be a lot of fun and I can not wait to meet the rest of you. This week we started to get to know each other with some drawing games. Next week i am hoping to teach some watercolor techniques and start with some fun prompts dealing with weather or habitats since many of your children love animals! In weeks to come your children will understand different watercolor techniques and be able to use them to create unique paintings. We will also learn some basic drawing techniques and how they can continue to express themselves.
